Titled's next major outing since HOTY in October was the Royal Melbourne Horse Show in January this year. He was second in his Riding Pony Newcomer class and during his workout for reserve put in an almighty shy, nearly collecting a 44 gallon drum in the process!
Next was the National Riding Pony Show where Titled more than redeemed himself. He was awarded Champion Newcomer and in the last class of the day he worked beautifully to be awarded the Grand Champion Ridden of the Show!
Citation is now broken in and is lovely to ride. He will be given a bit more education under saddle then turned out over Winter. He will make his saddle debut in October this year.
Black is Black is in foal to Manorvale Finale (Chippenham Warrant x Manorvale Heaven Sent) and is due early December. After Black is Black produced such a beautiful foal by Titled last season, Finale was the closest we could get to the same cross again (Finale's sire is Titled's full brother). Hoping for an equally beautiful filly version of Zulu!
On the subject of Zulu - he is growing into a magnificent individual and true to family form is a real character. Watch out for him as a two year old next season.

Lots of things to report. On the showing front - a fantastic start to the season! Titled made the trip to Royal Adelaide Show where he won his novice saddle pony class (13.2 -14hh) and then went on to be awarded Best Novice Saddle Pony. Bill was prepared and ridden by Sally Watkins and looked brilliant.
The next day he was 4th in his open class behind the eventual Champion and Reserve. He finished off a great show by winning his In-hand Riding Pony gelding class.
Titled worked beautifully at Adelaide when he wasn't having heart failure at the harness in the next ring! Something all those connected with him found quietly amusing considering he is broken into harness himself - which leads to the Royal Melbourne Show story! A couple of days after arriving back 'home' from Adelaide, Bill was taken to Ascot Vale to the wonderful horseman 'Patto' for his harness preparation!
Bill competed in the jinker turnout, novice and open harness pony and we thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience - it was great fun! He was totally out of type and finished down the line but would do it all again in a heartbeat. He behaved extremely well and we are very proud of our 'harness pony' - we thought he looked magnificent! A huge thankyou to Patto and his 'team' for preparing and driving Bill at Melbourne. To give you an idea of the talent of both horse and human - Bill was broken to harness when he was boken to saddle 2 years ago and not driven again until a week before the show, where he was driven around the streets of Flemington a total of 5 times!
On the breeding front it has not been so joyous. Black is Black developed an infection and aborted her Manorvale Finale foal at six months gestation. A huge disappointment considering it was a filly and were looking forward to a foal gracing our paddocks (its been awhile).
Good news on the breeding front is that Emma Miller-Olsen from Deeplake Stud has given us the opportunity to lease her beautiful mare Deeplake Party Girl. Standing at 15.2hh and by Staveley Mastermind from a Thoroughbred mare, Party Girl is the perfect addition to our breeding program. A massive thankyou to Emma for allowing her favourite mare to grace our paddocks to no doubt produce our next star! We are feeling very priviledged.

Go Flash! October saw both Titled and Citation compete at the EV State Show Horse Titles. Citation (Flash) worked like a seasoned horse and was runner up Newcomer Galloway. Titled made the Top 10 in the very strong Large Pony class. Both were produced and ridden by Sally Watkins and needless to say we were thrilled with the the boys perfomances!
