The search for a Riding Pony stallion began in July 1975 and through consultation with Anne Hammond over in the UK, the then 3 year old Treharne Talisman was purchased and he arrived in Australia in August 1975. Talisman was by the 'King of the Riding Ponies' - Bwlch Valentino and from Solway Summertime (a full siter to the famous Solway Master Bronze). Talisman proved to be an extremely successful sire with his progeny winning many major awards throughout the country. His winning stock ranged from small pony to galloway and importantly have gone on to be fantastic breeding stock. We owe a great deal of our success to this wonderful stallion. Although he was sold in 1985, Talisman continues to be an important ingredient in our breeding program.

PERKINS OF SPRING (IMP)
13.2hh 1972
Perkins of Spring arrived in Australia in August 1976. She was by Bubbly from Polly Perkins, who was a daughter of the famed Pretty Polly. Perkins was shown for us over in the UK before her importation and was a Supreme Championship winner at her only outing. Perkins proved to be a wonderful broodmare and predominantly produced fillies (only 2 colts from 12 foals!). Her record for producing winners was outstanding for us and they include:

Chippenham Flip (1978) by Talisman -  Champion Stallion at Adelaide Royal twice, Supreme Stallion at the Riding Pony Pageant 1980 and sire of Horse of the Year winners;
Chippenham Petite (1980) by Talisman - Champion Mare Royal Melbourne Show, Champion Mare Royal Adelaide Show, In-Hand Riding Pony OTY, Barastoc POTY, Supreme Saddle Exhibit Royal Melbourne Show;
Chippenham Jasmine (1981) by Talisman - dam of multiple Royal Show champions and HOTY for Douie Youl of Fairfield Stud;
Chippenham Prim (1982) by Talisman - Ridden Riding Pony of the Year and dam of Royal Show Champion Primadonna of Astral;
Chippenham Celebrity (1984) by Talisman - Dam of Royal Show winners for Mirinda and Whiterose Studs;
Chippenham Cabriolet (1985) by Chippenham Jaguar - Ridden Pony of the Year in NSW and WA.

Perkins of Spring was sold to Charlotte Mitton in 1985 and produced several foals under the Tallyrand prefix whose names appear in many royal winning ponies' predigrees today.

Walnut was shown briefly under saddle in Australia before becoming a broodmare. She produced her share of winners for the stud and has made an outstanding contribution to the Riding Pony breed in this country. Her offspring include:

SADIE HAWKINS
15.1hh 1974
A trip to the Thoroughbred yearling sales for a suitable mare to breed Riding Ponies saw Sarah come home with a chestnut filly by Nicopolis from Blanche. There were initial fears that perhaps a lunatic had been bought but that was quickly erased when Sadie's strapper at the sale was lying in the stable in floods of tears with a sleeping Thoroughbred yearling! Sadie only bred every second year and was a very important addition to the breeding program. Her foals (all by Talisman ranged from 13.3hh to 15.2hh) and include:

Chippenham Casting (1977) - Multiple Royal Show Champion and Supreme Champion Stallion at the Riding Pony Pageant. He appears in many pedigrees today and his most famous offspring is Brandarra Fagin who stood at Beckworth Stud throughout his lifetime;
Chippenham Daisy Mae (1980) - Royal Show placegetter in hand and a fantastic broodmare producing Royal Show winning Chippenham Pussywillow and for Mirinda Stud, Mirinda Kings Ransom.
